Some Updates

I realized I never got a chance to update on Alex's surgery or my Ladies Conference a few weekends ago.
Alex's surgery went really great! We got there at 6:30 and we were home by 9:30. Thankfully my friend is a nurse anesthetic and got to be the one in the room with him. She came and explained everything and was the one to take him back to surgery. Alex's grandmother from church, Mrs. Carol, came in during the surgery and kept Jason and I company. As soon as we got home he was up playing. I had to force him to take a nap that afternoon. My parents came up the night before and watched Natalie here at the house the day of the surgery. OH yeah, which reminds me that Natalie had that icky stomach virus the day before so it was good she didn't have to come with us. So far no one else in this house has had that bug (knock on wood).
The ladies conference was in Rogers, AR, at a HUGE church named the Church at Pinnacle Hills. We had a break on Sat and got to look around at the children's department.....soooo nice and big and colorful! Nine ladies from my church got to go on the trip. We stayed the night in a hotel and got to have some good fellowship time. The speaker was Priscilla Shirier and she did a great job. She talked about Going Beyond what your relationship is now with God and making it something better.
One of the things that has been on my heart for at least a year has been starting a Children's church at church. I have pushed the thought out of my head many times and found excuses such as "well they are starting Team Kids on Wed nights that should be good", and "Oh they are hiring a children's director..now is not the time". So when it popped back in my head during the conference I really started to listen. Priscilla said one thing that has echoed in me since....if you think you are to do something and the only excuse you can find is fear then maybe it's what you should actually be doing. WOW.....that's what I found for this. So last week I went and talked to the children's director thinking that someone else probably already had this in the works but I didn't know yet....well, NO ONE had even brought it up to her. She thought it would probably be a great thing. We are going to do some asking around to other church members to see what they think and then try to start it up in the fall. So be in prayer for me and others as we try to seek God's will in this.
Also another quick prayer is that this past Sunday was our pastor's last Sunday with our church. He has only been here a little less than 2 years. So our church will be going through the process of finding a search committee and interim and pastor again. If ya know of anyone looking for a preaching position.....let him know.
