Jason and I went to Atkins on Saturday and helped with some clean up after the tornado. I took very few pictures. We went with the college group from our church and were suppose to go to FBC Pottsville to help out but no one was there when we got there so we went to Atkins FBC who sent us to the fire station so we ended up out in the field cutting up trees that had been uprooted. We did that for 4 hours then we got a call saying we were needed back at FBC Pottsville so we went there. From there we picked up care packets and went back out to the even harder hit areas and gave them to the home owners. I forgot to take my camera out there....not that I felt I could have taken pictures of other peoples' homes. There were many houses destroyed.....some all that was left was the concrete floor. A couple they were getting out what they could salvage before destroying the house the rest the way. One area was around a little lake and on both sides the houses were just gone. The home owners could tell story after story about what had happened and changed their lives......and all it took was 15 seconds (is what they all would say). They were very grateful for the packets and many hugs were given to us.
These don't show much of the damage
On this picture you can see the feedmill that is on Hwy 64....did not get any damage that we could see. We were also told that this is the field that the bodies of 3 family members were found.
Trailors across the road....one was completely upside down
These were about 3 storage sheds
One of the trees that we cut up
A house right on Hwy 64 as we were turning off the road we had been working on.
That big yellow thing sticking up is the roots of a tree that fell over.
